After graduating from an Iranian high school in Quetta,
Muhammad Ibrahim thought he couldn't study further. Iran didn't accept Hazara students, and Pakistani universities didn't recognize his documents.
"I was disappointed ... I was in a dead end," Ibrahim thought.
That's when he learned about
Hadi, a Hazaras Study Abroad administrator, who was helping students study in China.
"I took his number and tried for ring. He attended my call and I talked to him about all my study history and asked if I could be admitted by any university there," Ibrahim remembers.
"The next day he ... told me that you are applicable for the university for International Business."
Ibrahim sent scanned copies of his school documents and passport to Hadi, who started working on getting admission for him.
"Two days latter he called me that I have done your admission in my own university and sent you admission notice and notice for the issuance of the student visa."
Ibrahim continues:
"When I received them, in the letters the university wanted a bank statement and medical examination. I put four lakh Rupees in my account and got the statement the next day. Then I went to Karachi, where I had my medical examination at Agha Khan Hospital and submitted my documents for student visa at Chinese Consulate. I got my visa in one week.
"Currently I study in Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. My major is International Business and I am glad to study here. I am studying on my own expenses.
"HSA helped me in completing my paperwork for admission and sending Admission Notice and JW202 form for issuance of visa.
"And I thank HSA for their help. I’m on self-finance but I’m happy and can afford it, because I really wanted to continue my studies. From 2007 to 2009 I faced a lot of difficulties only because of my Iranian school certificate. Thanks to Hazara students on HSA, they helped me out of two years of tensions. Now I’m doing my bachelor's in a good Chinese university and have a clear view of my future. I want to do business after graduation. But there are many other opportunities I can see after this degree.
"Most of our qawma was disappointing me that why you have studied in Irani school, it is useless, the certificate is accepted in none of the regional countries except in Iran, but it is difficult to continue your study there because they are very nationalist/racist. But I have not lost my confidence."
For our students who have studied in Iranian high schools, Ibrahim has a few words:
"At last my advice is for those who study in Iranian High School. They are interested in continuing their study there are different ways. If God closes the door, He leaves open the window. Don’t be disappointed."
